Cross Member Welding Repair

Crossmember welding repair

One of the cross members for the third scale bridge in my lab tore this section of steel right in half. I ended up chamfering both sides of the broken part with a grinder and clamped it all back together. I then did a few tack welds randomly on both sides to keep it from warping. Then I did several passes with 6011 welding rod. The welds were ground down where it would interfere with the flange or bolts. The piece fit right back in!
